Local talent shortage
Qualified electricians are among the hardest technical profiles to recruit locally in most of Central and Western Europe.
Explore electrician profiles for industrial, construction, maintenance and electrical installation roles.

Electricians are one of the few profiles where a single missing person stops other trades from working. When the electrical crew is short, commissioning, testing and handover all move to the right.
Qualified electricians are among the hardest technical profiles to recruit locally in most of Central and Western Europe.
Installation and commissioning schedules depend on electrical work finishing on time; one missing crew member moves the whole sequence.
General adverts attract general electricians, while the actual need is often automation, industrial or high-voltage work.
Plants running two or three shifts need electrical cover on every shift, not only during day operations.
Without spare electrical capacity, planned maintenance windows get postponed until something fails unplanned.
Roles involving switchgear, testing or energised work require documented competence, which narrows the usable applicant pool further.
"Electrician" covers several genuinely different jobs. Naming the right one in your advert is the single biggest improvement most employers can make.
Motors, drives, control cabinets and plant power distribution in manufacturing environments.
First and second fix installation on residential, commercial and industrial building projects.
Building services installation: distribution boards, cabling, lighting, sockets and final testing.
Fault finding, planned maintenance and rapid response on production equipment and facility systems.
PLC-connected equipment, sensors, field bus wiring and support for controls engineers during commissioning.
DC and AC side of PV installations, inverters, string testing and connection work on rooftop and ground-mounted systems.
Where electrician profiles are most often deployed.
Electrical work is one of the areas where documentation matters most, because the consequences of an unverified assumption are safety consequences.
Verify, do not assume. A qualification from the region can be excellent and still not map one-to-one onto your national framework. Ask for the document, the issuing institution and the practical scope it covers.

Detailed electrician sub-specializations live on our dedicated electrician domain. We link there rather than duplicating that depth here.
An industrial electrician works on plant equipment: motors, drives, control cabinets and power distribution inside a production environment, usually with maintenance responsibility. A construction electrician installs new systems on a building project and works to drawings, deadlines and handover milestones. The overlap is real but partial, and a candidate strong in one is not automatically strong in the other.
Many hold formal vocational qualifications from technical secondary schools or vocational centres, often with several years of documented practice. Whether that qualification is formally recognised in your country is a separate legal question that depends on your national recognition procedure and on the role. Ask for the certificate and check it through the official recognition route for your jurisdiction.
Use a structured technical interview built around your own equipment: give a single-line diagram and ask the candidate to explain the protection concept, describe a fault-finding sequence on a specific machine, or walk through a lock-out procedure. Photographs of previous work, wiring documentation and a short video task are more informative than a longer CV.
It depends on the role. Maintenance electricians who receive verbal shift handovers and read permits need a working level of the site language. Installation crews working under a bilingual lead can start lower. Define the level by the safety-critical communication that actually happens, not by a generic requirement copied from a previous advert.
